In honor of our first institute and the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the July newsletter is focused on the Civil War in Tennessee. The Library of Congress offers a wide variety of primary sources related to the Civil War in Tennessee. These resources provide wonderful opportunities to explore numerous themes and develop cross-curricular lesson plans that get students thinking about the Civil War in new ways. Check out our lesson ideas to see how you might incorporate math, geography, language arts, or music in your teaching of this topic. Also, be sure to check out all the upcoming Civil War related events in your area.
This is the first of a series of items we will be offering looking at the Civil War. Currently on our Tools page, you will find two guides to Civil War links. We will be adding a Civil War Primary Source Set in the coming days. Please be sure to check the TPS-TN web site for these new items.
