Amy Kostine, our Trail of Tears historian, has a background in photography, as you will quickly realize when you see the wonderful images that she posts to mtsu_chp. The Kritser House (c. 1847), shown here, was constructed for Martin Kritser, a Virginian who settled in Independence, Missouri, to profit from the Santa Fe Trail as a merchant and grocer. We have documented this home as part of our effort to survey buildings associated with the Santa Fe Trail in Missouri.
