New Rivers, Rails, and Roads Booklet

Check out the latest publication to come out of our partnership with the National Park Service’s National Trails Office, Rivers, Rails, and Roads: Transportation During the Cherokee Removal, 1837-1839. Created under the leadership of Amy Kostine, CHP Trail of Tears historian, and with contributions from several graduate research assistants, the publication represents the culmination of several years of research on the multiple transportation routes used to remove the Cherokee people from their ancestral homeland in the eastern United States to Oklahoma.
