Auburntown Gym Added to National Register

The Auburntown Gym in Cannon County, Tennessee, was listed recently in the National Register of Historic Places at the level of local significance. Built in about 1936 with local labor and funds from the Works Progress Administration of the New Deal, the gymnasium was the community’s first indoor sports facility, helping to bolster the local basketball programs during the Great Depression and afterwards.
