Layla is working with the Center’s Teaching with Primary Sources–MTSU team.  She is currently working on various projects, including reworking TPS–MTSU materials to meet the new Tennessee state social studies standards.  She is also working on the Center’s cemetery projects.

Layla earned a master’s degree in education from MTSU in 2017, and she has taught social studies courses in public middle and high schools in middle Tennessee.  This is Layla’s second year as a public history doctoral candidate at MTSU.  She also works at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage as an interpreter.  Her research interests include Holocaust and Genocide studies, colonial America, Henry VIII, and Elizabeth I.
