With Tennessee poised to implement new social studies standards in the 2019-2020 school year, Teaching with Primary Sources–MTSU (TPS-MTSU) will be offering a number of workshops in the coming months to help teachers prepare for the changes. For middle Tennessee teachers, TPS-MTSU will be offering the workshop “Addressing Social Studies Practice Standards through Inquiry” on Thursday, January 17th, at the Heritage Center of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County. The social studies practice standards focus on six skills, such as analysis of primary and secondary sources, geographical awareness, and historical thinking, that will be integrated into the social studies curriculum at all grade levels. This workshop is open to all social studies teachers in grades four and up. For more information or to register, contact Kira Duke.
