Savery Library Fieldwork

Center staff and students are preparing a historic structure report for the c.1939 Savery Library at Talladega College, one of Alabama’s oldest historically black colleges, established in 1867. Murals by Hale Woodruff, three of which depict various scenes from the Amistad event, are displayed in the building’s lobby. Graduate research assistant Max Farley recently wrote a post on the Center’s blog about his experience working on the Savery Library project.
