Planning for America’s 250th Anniversary

Center Director and Tennessee State Historian Dr. Carroll Van West has been on the road meeting with communities across the state about celebrating the forthcoming 250 th anniversary of the American Revolution. From Kingsport to Memphis, residents chimed in on what they think is important about their localities in the celebration of the birth of our nation. The meetings were part of an ongoing effort by the Tennessee Commission for the Sesquicentennial of the United States to plan how best to celebrate our nation’s birthday and Revolutionary heritage with Tennessee’s unique resources.

A public meeting was held on December 7, 2021, at the headquarters of the Tennessee Historical Commission in Nashville.
