Alexandria Lingle McMahan is the Historic Preservation Analyst. Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, she has maintained a love for her state’s history and a passion for preserving it. Lingle McMahan has a B.A. in History with a minor in Twentieth Century European Studies from Middle Tennessee State University. Following graduation, she began working for the Center as the Secretary. As a junior in college, Lingle McMahan received a Public History internship in which she wrote and edited historical narratives of five different sites in Murfreesboro. Her interests include the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror (specifically terror as a means of control politically), Civil War in Tennessee, and World War I annihilation warfare and Verdun.
She also has a passion for her four-legged friends. Lingle McMahan worked as a receptionist at a doggy daycare, grooming, and lodging facility through college. She still volunteers in any way she can.
In her current role, Lingle McMahan oversees day-to-day operations, manages department and grant budgets, and assists in any administrative tasks needed. In 2025 she began her tenth academic year at the Center for Historic Preservation and is looking forward to many more!
